Dr. Allen was born and raised in Logan, Utah. He completed his undergraduate studies in his hometown at Utah State University. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from The University of Michigan. He followed this with an additional one year Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery internship at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics which expanded his surgical experience. He also served as student instructor at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. Dr. Allen attended The University of Rochester Medical Center in New York where he completed his residency and training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. In residency he received extensive training in full scope Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery including outpatient anesthesia, impacted teeth, dental implants, bone grafting, orthognathic surgery, TMJ surgery, facial trauma and maxillofacial pathology and reconstruction. Additional rotations were completed in anesthesia, trauma surgery, internal medicine, plastic surgery, oculoplastics, facial cosmetic surgery and burn surgery.
Dr. Allen’s clinical interests include wisdom tooth removal, dental implant placement, bone grafting, pre-prosthetic surgery, sedation and general anesthesia, corrective jaw surgery, maxillofacial pathology and facial trauma. He is certified in BLS, ACLS, PALS and ATLS. He currently maintains hospital privileges at Advent Health Shawnee Mission, Overland Park Regional Medical Center, and Saint Luke’s South Hospital. Dr. Allen is fluent in Spanish.
Dr. Allen is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Kansas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Association, Kansas Dental Association, and the Kansas 5th District.
Outside of work he loves spending time with his wife and four children. He loves being outdoors gardening, golfing, skiing, and being active.
