Steven L. Thomas, DDS (Retired)
Dr. Thomas practices Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery exclusively. He is a native of northwestern Missouri. He received his Bachelor of Science in biology from Northwest Missouri State University. He attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry, receiving his dental degree with distinction. He received his medical degree from the University of Health Sciences Antigua, School of Medicine. He completed his internship at Truman Medical Center East in Kansas City, Missouri and residency training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Dr. Thomas also has a Masters of Science degree from Baker University.
Dr. Thomas is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the National Board of Dental Anesthesiology, and a Fellow in the American College of Dentists. He is a Past President of the American College of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. Thomas was the 2006-2007 President of the Fifth District Dental Society. He is a Past President of the Medical Staff at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, the only Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon to have served as Chief of Staff. He currently has staff appointments at Saint Luke’s South Hospital, Overland Park Regional Medical Center and the Blue Valley Hospital. Dr. Thomas is married with three children.
